Before you start
Charge the case and both AirPods. Identify the AirPods model because controls and reset steps differ.
Try these steps in order
Test after each step. If the problem is resolved, you can stop.
Charge both sides
Place both AirPods in the charged case for at least 30 seconds, then open it near the paired iPhone or iPad.
Check each battery level
Confirm that the device shows a charge level for both the left and right AirPod. Reseat the silent one if it is not charging.
Test the silent AirPod alone
Leave the working AirPod in the case, close the lid, and play audio through the silent side.
Check audio balance
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Accessibility → Audio & Visual and make sure Balance is centered.
Reconnect using Apple’s instructions
If both sides charge but one remains silent, follow Apple’s model-specific AirPods reset or reconnection steps.
What your result may mean
- The silent side was not charging
- Clean the case and AirPod using Apple’s instructions, then retest.
- Balance was off-center
- Centering it should restore equal output.
- One side stays silent after reset
- The AirPod or case may need service.
