Phone storage is full

Start by identifying which category uses the space. Deleting random files can remove something important without solving the main cause.

Before you start

Back up important photos, videos, and documents. Confirm that any cloud backup has finished before removing local copies.

Try these steps in order

Test after each step. If the problem is resolved, you can stop.

  1. Review storage categories

    On iPhone, open Settings → General → iPhone Storage. On Android, open Settings → Storage. Labels vary by manufacturer.

  2. Remove downloads you recognize

    Check downloaded videos, podcasts, music, documents, and browser downloads. Delete only items you can replace or have backed up.

  3. Review large apps

    Uninstall apps you no longer use. On iPhone, Offload App can remove the app while keeping its documents; read the prompt before confirming.

  4. Handle photos carefully
